I know you will have had a copy and if not then here it is, the June issue of the Youth and Children’s Work Newsletter.

The summer programme is probably now out of date but there is also some other important information.

Grant Applications

The Synod Youth and Children’s Committee has a small budget from which we give grants to individuals and groups. The grants are not normally given for capital expenditure.

The overall purpose of the grants is to encourage new work and to enhance mission amongst children and young people. Grants are available for groups or churches and to individual young people for appropriate development and training opportunities.

The limit for groups is up to £500 and for individuals up to £100. If you would like to apply then you can download the application form here and return to the Synod Office. Grant Form

Live It - Youth Event - Bands required

Do you play in a local band, or do you know of local bands that would like to play at the Live It event.

We are looking for up to 8 young bands who would like to play during the afternoon at the Live It event in London Colney, near St Albans.

Children’s Assembly

Edinburgh, 11-14th July 2008, and Children’s Assembly will be happening. Alongside this the United Reformed Church will also hold it’s General Assembly.

We have 5 places available for people aged 9 - 13 yrs.

You will need at least one adult to travel with the children and be available for the Children’s Assembly programme. It should be possible to arrange travel to Edinburgh in such a way as to ensure we have the required ratio of adults to children.

If you are interested in taking a group to the Children’s Assembly please get in touch with Liz Boyes, our Synod Children’s Secretary, Stephen Collins or Sue Russell in the Synod Office.

Live It -Youth event

Yet another great event from the people who brought you Xplosion.

SPEC Centre, London Colney
Sunday 4 May 2pm - 8:30pm

An ecumenical event for young people aged 14-25 years, packed with loads of stuff including live bands, worship, teaching, workshops & chill-out cafes.

So, what exactly can you expect throughout the day? The plan is:

2pm Event starts

During the afternoon there’ll be bands playing on the Main Stage, & in the Acoustic Tent will be the Cornerstone Bar (a non-alcoholic cocktail bar) along with Christian Aid running sessions & some acoustic music for those of you who prefer a more chilled out experience.

The evening kicks off at 6.15pm at the main stage with the Matt Leader Worship Band leading worship, before rapper Jahaziel takes over for a session.

The evening rounds off with the main set from Electralyte.

8:30pm Event ends.

Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the event, although we’d recommend you also bring a picnic lunch with you, to keep up your energy for everything that’s happening!

Cost is £8 per person.

It is important that you book for these sessions – we have arranged several and it may be that not all will take place if there are insufficient participants for any one session.
